Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (GMT)
The aim of this discussion is to demonstrate the valuable role that youth-led innovation can play in shaping and commissioning digital content aimed at young people. Tom Hadfield, a young entrepreneur, will chair the debate. We’ll begin by hearing from some of the young people who have been advising the BBC – along with a view from Geoff Goodwin, Head of BBC Switch, about the benefits he has seen from handing over control to young people.
Matt Locke, Commissioning Editor for Education at Channel 4, will talk about Channel 4’s new vision, and why it is important to give young people a leading role in designing and making new content for their website. Lizzie Jackson, an academic at Westminster, will talk about the findings of her recent research into children acting as co-designers of Adventure Rock, a virtual world created by the BBC.
There’ll be half an hour for questions and debate with the audience – so come along and share your own views.
